Recently, we had the opportunity to sit down with an experienced sports physiotherapist, Dr Himanshu D Tiwari to gain insights into the significance of their role, the intricacies of their practice, and their approach to ensuring athletes stay at the top of their game. Dr Himanshu worked for DDCA, BCCI and AIFF as a physiotherapist and a Karamveer Chakra Awardee 2023.
 

Prevention, Management, and Rehabilitation: The Triad of Sports Physiotherapy

Our conversation began with a fundamental question: Why sports physiotherapy? The answer echoed the essence of their profession – focusing on preventing, managing, and rehabilitating injuries related to sports and exercise. The sports physiotherapist plays a pivotal role in enhancing an athlete's performance, promoting faster recovery, and addressing the unique physical demands of different sports.

Dr Himanshu, with a master's degree and fellowship from the UK, emphasised the importance of rigorous education and specialised training. Their credentials underscored the depth of knowledge required to navigate the intricate field of sports physiotherapy.
